Silos are dead. The day of the channel specialist may be diminishing.
This applies across all 3 digital marketing roles, agency, in-house/business owner and freelancers alike.
In the jobs market, you may notice more and more jobs don't just ask for a PPC specialist, if you work within an agency you'll know collaboration with other specialist teams is crucial and you need foundational knowledge outside of your specialism and if you're a freelancer, your clients need to know they can lean on you for help outside of just your specialism, so they don't looks elsewhere (which is also an opportunity to increase your income.)
On the channel we also talk a lot about automation and particularly with regards to Google Ads and how in the future close account management won't be necessary as it's likely most manual controls will have been removed. So this again shows how important it is to become a modern marketer
